An outing to the State Park

I finally talked my human into taking me to the lake! I was so excited this morning... I haven't been out of the house in a while, and I love going places.
There's a state park not far from our house, and we packed a few changes of clothes, my bike, the camera, and headed off!
Unfortunately, we picked one of the windiest days to go. I tied my hair up really tight, so it wouldn't blow in my face and spoil the pictures, but it was blowing so hard, I kept losing my balance and falling over. The human really freaked when I nearly blew over into the lake itself!
And I never got to ride my bike, which made me kind of sad. We don't have any smooth, concrete places to ride it at the house.

We got a few photos of me at the lake. Here's one of my favorites:

I got my toes all sandy!

After that, the human decided maybe being so close to the water wasn't such a great idea, and I got into some longer pants and better shoes, and we went for a short hike.
It wasn't so windy back in the trees, and we had fun just being outside.
Until we came upon this incline:

Looking at the picture, it doesn't seem that steep, but my clumsy human tripped on a root at the top, and we took a tumble down it. Neither of us were really hurt, but it was kind of scary! AND my human dropped me to save the camera!
Ok, so it's a really nice, expensive camera, but still. Does her camera have my sparkling personality and great looks?
Not really.

After that, we decided to can the hiking for a while. We headed to a pretty little picnic area we'd found, with this really neat water fountain in the middle of it.
I have to tell you, I was relieved to see it. I was parched, and the human had remembered my clothes, but had forgotten our picnic basket with the drinks and sandwiches.
I climbed up to get a drink, turned the handle, and...

What?? A fountain, but no cool, refreshing fall of sparkling blue water? What gives? I raised my arm in dolly dismay, and climbed back down.
The human offered to take me back down to the lake if I was that desperate for a drink, but I waved her off. Lake water? Ew!

I wandered over to a conveniently placed tree stump, and took a seat. I decided to just relax and ponder life for a while, and it was really quite pleasant. I liked watching all the birds that flew overhead, and listening to the wind that blew violently through the trees.

Finally, the human and I decided it was getting kind of late, and we had some errands to run, so we needed to get moving on my Easter/spring photos.
I climbed onto one of the concrete picnic tables, and the human handed me my pretty spring dress to change into. I stood there, looking at her expectantly, hoping to be pointed in the general direction of the dressing room, but alas! for the second time that day, I was disappointed.

"Just do what all my human models do, and change right here," she told me when I asked her what I was supposed to do.
"In front of everyone?" I asked her, shock evident in my voice.
She looked around at the deserted picnic area and laughed at me. "There's no one else here. I'm sure the squirrels won't be offended by a little dolly nudity," she giggled.
So I changed out of my horrible hiking gear (seriously, never hike in capris and sneakers without socks. I do have hiking boots. I just couldn't find them.) right there, in the open! I was kind of mortified for a minute, and then I realized...

I'm naked in a state park which is probably illegal and most of my friends are gonna be so jealous!! I don't know what happened, but suddenly, I felt great about the whole thing. I didn't want to put my pretty dress on, I just wanted to run around in the grass and be freeeeeeeee!

The human put a stop to this quickly, though. She's such a buzz kill.
I was forced, kicking and screaming into my new dress, but once it was on, I have to admit I did look pretty sharp.

We took a bunch of photos like this, and then I asked for one with her. She said that was a nice idea, and we posed together.
I should have known something was up, because she kept giggling.
She was giving me bunny ears the whole time!!

My human is Such. A. Jerk.

I had to gripe at her, but I finally got a good photo, which is one of my favorites now.

And my absolute favorite photo of the day is this one.
Syd even did it up all fancy for me!

So that was my trip to the state park! I hope we get to go back, soon. I had a lot of fun!

  6. Hi Ninette,
Sorry it was such a windy day and not as much fun as you wanted it to be. You and Syd got some good pics out of it. I love the one of you by the water. We don't have any water near where I live, but I sure wish we did. I only get to be around water when I'm on vacation or if we have tons of rain. Maybe next time you'll get to ride your bike!
    hugs,
    Karma
